July 2017, Looking back over our Nation’s history, we see a lot of changes that have taken place. From George Washington’s army to the present-day military, it would be hard to believe how far we have come in the last 240 years. However, we can’t dwell on the past. If we do, the present will overtake
us and will become a history nation, much like many that have come and gone before us. Today we must look forward, not forgetting what’s behind us. We are looking forward to the goals that lie ahead. Our nation has come forward in great strides over the years and has exceeded the expectation of many. The future of our nation depends on our looking to the future and excelling even more as our fore
fathers blazed the trail before us. July marks a turning point for our lives in 2017. As we start down the second half of the journey, are we satisfied with the accomplishments of the first half of the year? Or are we just coasting along somewhat like the Apostle Paul’s ship ride to Rome. While they were just
coasting along, a storm came by that eventually took the ship. Even though all made it to Rome, they could certainly have been further along if they had used wisdom and looked ahead and made the most of their future. As we look at our history and we hear the word of Patrick Henry “Give me liberty or give me death” we see one determined frontiersman. Today, are you in the battle? The end is in sight! Jesus is coming again! Are you ready for His coming? Are all of your family and friends ready for his return? We are not playing church; neither are we just drifting along. We ARE going forwards, or backwards. There’s no standing still. Yes, we have rounded the turn. It’s time to move forward for God with all of our energy. Jesus said after the Spirit has come, you will have power and a message for Jerusalem,
Judea, Samaria, and for the utter most parts of the world. Yes, this is your day! Make the most of it!
May God Bless You
Your Pastors,
Rev. Richard and Rosie Deckard

Rita’s Review

While attending Sunday worship a few days ago, it occurred to me how “safe” I felt within the church walls. There didn’t seem to be any barrier that would come between our worship that day. It made me consider how happy I am to live in America. I can drive to any church that I want to; close my eyes without fear that someone may hurt me, and pray without worry that I may be tortured for calling out God’s name. I find it hard to imagine what people in other countries must experience when they choose to follow Christ. I don’t know what it is like to lie down at night and worry that someone will kill me before morning because I am a Christian. I don’t know how someone lives his life, keeping his love of Christ “hidden from authorities”. Makes me want to say “Thank You! Thank You!” to those soldiers and
leaders who have given their lives and their time working to make a country remain “free” as America is. I don’t know if we will always live with the freedoms that we now have, but for now, I’m so very thankful to be a Free American! And America needs to Bless God for the freedom we have in Christ! His sacrifice saved our souls and released us from the bondage of sin. We can be truly free in Christ wherever we are! (For we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Thank God – Redeemed.)
