February 2017

February 2017. Some years ago, we were introduced to a chorus that caught on and everybody was singing or humming it. The chorus began something like this: Do you know where God lives? He lives in the babies so small; He lives in the trees so tall, etc. I  can’t remember all the words, but the chorus lives on with the joy that we have in knowing that God is a God of the whole world. Yet, he is so tender and personal that he lives in my heart and the heart of every person that has received him for themselves. While we  are living in a time of restlessness, we understand that with God living in our hearts that no oppression we come up against is going to be able to stand. While many are trying to bring this great nation down through division, Christians are praying to our heavenly father for protection and strength. In the Psalms, the writer declares that “he who dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.” (Psalms 91:1) The psalm goes ahead and points to the protection of all that stay in Close unity with God. The explanation is breath- taking. He covers us. We are not afraid day or night. And we walk safely in his presence daily. “A thousand may fall at thy side or ten-thousand at thy right hand, but the enemy will not be able to touch you, for you are the Lord’s.” This is the conclusion of Psalms 91:10. So just how big is God? He’s small enough to care about the sparrows, and to even keep track of one that is fallen, yet he holds the worlds together, giving to them life and keeping the universe at its fullest. God is able to fit our “puzzled” life pieces together until every piece fits and in eternity we are complete. Today, we are complete in Christ who died for us and rose again that we might have life-everlasting.  Draw close to Him and let nothing come between you and the Master.

Rita’s Review

Riding along in the car today, I was listening to the local Christian radio station. It was the noon hour and they frequently share prayer requests and ask people to pray. Why? Because they know that prayer changes things. Just because you do not know someone does not mean that God doesn’t. The Bible says that God knows when one sparrow falls. So how much greater can he know mankind? Anyway, the dj requested prayer for a woman who had recently fallen and broken her neck. Then the dj followed up with the announcement: “and throughout this ordeal the doctors have diagnosed her with cancer and she has been given two weeks to live”. Can you imagine a sentence given to you like that? For some, two weeks would be welcomed. Two weeks, and no more pain. Two weeks, and no more crazy politics or bickering over immaterial events. Two weeks, and you move to Heaven! F or others, two weeks could be a devastating time. Only two weeks, to make “wrongs” right. Two weeks to finalize how you will be remembered on I earth. Two weeks to make eternal decisions and preparations. Friend, TODAY is the day for salvation! If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal savior, introduce yourself to him today and learn of his love and lean on him from this day forward. His peace passes all understanding; His presence is like a soft blanket of comfort for the

troubled soul.    -rita
