January 2018!!

January 2018 – Again we start a new year, a time of new beginnings. We wipe the slate clean and we start over. A time we seek to set new horizons, open new doors, and start the new year with a ray of sunshine. Last year we saw a time of change in several fields of what seemed like a yesterday that had closed caption. Jesus closed the book on an old way of life; he brought us new beginnings so that the destiny of death that developed in the Garden of Eden would not have dominion over our lives any longer. We were under the destiny of death without redemption. Our only hope was that God would find a way to redeem us from sin and would somehow bring us back into a relationship with himself. Unfortunately, God searched through the years and was unable to find a perfect plan. He tried the Law, but the Law could not save us from a life of sin. He tried to bring redemption through the line of Abraham, yet in his line it became filled with sin, and they fell into the same mold as the rest of the world. Then it happened: God reach out and gave the world the most prized possession that one could have – his son. His only son. Yes, the One whom we celebrated his birth just last week. He brought him into the world as a man, yet divine and having two natures (one that was totally man; the other totally divine). From this son has come the redemption that for thousands of years man had hoped aimlessly for. Today we live under new authority in Christ. The destruction of the curse of sin has been reversed. We can have a new life in Christ where the old things have passed away and all things have been made new. Today, the slate is clean. New beginnings with Christ, the author of eternal life without destruction of the old life. What about you? Have you come to Jesus and .. accepted his love and goodness? Have
you started 2018 with him? He invites you into his presence. Please don’t turn him away. Have new hope and new beginnings for 2018.
May God Bless You
Your Pastors,
Rev. Richard and Rosie Deckard

Rita’s Review

Thanks to all who participated in the fundraising effort with the making and selling of the quilt. We were able to a donation to the Hartford City Church ‘ Camp of$500!!! January is here! Time for a new calendar – time for a fresh start! Might as well get over the “blues” of not getting everything accomplished in 2017 and look forward to 2018. Think of the possibilities! With good health you will feel like making plans, baking, building, financing – you name it! In America, the sky is the limit! But let’s face it, not everyone has good health. So, we must make do with the resources that are available to us. And I want to think that if you are reading this, then you can R-E-A-D. Besides the Bible, we have available to us some of the best Christian-themed literature in the whole world. We can listen to audio books, and ministers, or listen to music at any hour of the day. It is possible to feed our minds with the Good News of the Gospel 24 hours a day. Also, we can share with the world the Word of God through letters, music, and/or deeds. Christ came and shared the love of God while he walked on earth. When he left, he told the people to go into all of the world and share the gospel. We are the generation in charge of following his instruction. People are always watching your life. Will the seed we plant in their life be nurtured? Or will it be destroyed by a sinful witness? In 2018, let your life reflect God, so that his shadow of peace and understanding might reap a harvest of souls for the
Kingdom. -Wishing you the best year possible! -rita
